Holiday Entertaining… and a Pop of Pumpkin!

The first autumn days bring with them the beginning of an exciting rotation of guests, visitors, Trick-or-Treaters, and cozy nights in with the family. As you gear up for fall fun with those you love, keep in mind that the kitchen is the heart of your home. The right appliances and layout can make entertaining efficient, whether you’re hosting extended family for a big holiday meal or seeking the quickest and easiest way to make stovetop hot cocoa and s’mores for the kids. Here are some of our favorites.

Holiday Entertaining 1

A consistently popular request among our clients is for an open concept kitchen, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. Utilizing top-of-the-line stainless appliances from Kitchen Aid against a rustic-feeling wood floor, the meeting of modern and vintage works seamlessly. An oversized island with ample seating means the chef never feels isolated, but loved ones aren’t hovering. Weeknight dinners are a cinch in this gorgeous kitchen, too, as there’s room for a family of six to gather ‘round and enjoy.

Holiday Entertaining 2

The home cook who likes to take it all on – from the turkey to the pie – will love this Kitchen Aid 48” dual fuel range top with double oven. The range is a clear focal point in this kitchen, for its luxurious yet professional feel and smooth looks. With the holidays approaching, this is a great option for keeping crowds well-fed and happy.

Holiday Entertaining 3

For this remodel, we employed an entire package of Thermador appliances, from the gas range top to electric double ovens and the convenient built-in fridge. We’re big Thermador fans due in large part to the energy efficiency and high caliber of performance of the products. Savings pile up over the years thanks to lower-impact appliances like these. Additionally, this kitchen features a Danze Parma high-arc kitchen faucet that’s both aesthetically pleasing and multifunctional.

Holiday Entertaining 4

This kitchen was designed for a couple to accommodate frequent entertaining from dinner parties to casual hosting. Look closely – an extra-large, built-in fridge upholds certain subtlety thanks to custom cabinet doors. This huge refrigerator allows for tons of storage you wouldn’t find in a standard kitchen.

The large coffee bar area adjacent the fridge is a perfect DIY barista space for both homeowners and guests! With ample space, efficient Thermador appliances, and dedicated areas for all the goings-on from everyday and holiday, this kitchen is an ideal blend of convenience and luxury. At Hatfield (now Alair Homes- Plano) we love building holiday entertainment-friendly spaces for our clients.

Hammered Metal Bowl by Target
Hammered Metal Bowl by Target

As you gear up for the holidays, don’t forget fall. We love this time of year when the temperatures start to fall and the colors turn to gold, orange, and brown. Play up the theme of pumpkin in your home, whether it’s a wall color, an accent item, or an extra-creative jack-o-lantern display your neighbors never saw coming.

Go for the gold with a hammered metal bowl perfect for fall entertaining. Chic-up your Trick-or-Treat serving, serve chips at a casual soiree, or fill it with faux citrus fruits as a dazzling autumn table centerpiece. This Target find is a true steal at only $19.99.

There’s no knife required for the new classy pumpkin designs trending from coast to coast. Ditch the ghoulish jack-o-lanterns and keep things simple by investing in some black, white, and metallic paint. Chevron stripes, large-scale polka dots, a personalized monogram – paint whatever strikes your fancy and be sure to cap off those stems in gold for added pizzazz. We’re loving the no-mess factor here, too.

Whether it’s a new accent piece you pick up on your way home, or a detailed DIY pumpkin project, Fall decorating can be a cinch when you incorporate seasonal colors and patterns!
