Our clients love the part of town they live in but did not love their outdated house. We updated the kitchen/dining area, den and master bathroom. Both the husband and wife are very busy with their jobs and didn’t want to be consumed with this project. They had water damage on their wood floors, so we replaced the flooring in all areas.
In the outdated yellow kitchen, we installed all new cabinetry. The location of walls, door openings or windows didn’t really change. A Blanco Cerana white farm sink was installed with a Delta Trinsic Champagne Bronze pull down kitchen faucet. The lower cabinets were painted SW Naval, while the upper cabinets were painted SW Pure White. The dark navy cabinets complement the Hampton Cararra Marble subway tile and the Cambria Weybourne quartz countertops perfectly. The walls were painted a neutral SW Greek Villa. A natural brass Schoolhouse Luna pendant was added above the sink, which was a great look with the Hudson Valley Aged Brass Coffey breakfast table pendant. All finishes were replaced with Emtek Urban Mod hex pulls in a satin brass finish, which really added a nice finishing touch to this updated classic kitchen.
The den had a large curved Colorado lodge-looking rock fireplace before and now has a sleek modern look. The fireplace wall was reframed, and Cementi Grey 18”x 36” porcelain tile was used in place of the large rock. Cable connections were added above the fireplace, to mount their TV. The wood paneling remained on the walls but was painted a Greek Villa by SW, versus the original brown stain to brighten up the room. To top it off, a beam was added to the center peak in the room stained a dark brown.
The wet bar between the new updated living room and their existing den area was updated with Waypoint linen cabinets and Cambria Weybourne countertops. Louvered blinds were added to the window that looked out onto the patio.
The powder bath, off the kitchen, was also updated with new paint, a new vanity and hardware. The walls were painted a classic dark color; SW Iron Ore. Hudson Valley ‘Wylie’ polished nickel vanity scones were installed on either side of the new wall mirror. A polished chrome Signature Hardware ‘Keating’ vanity faucet was installed along with an undermount Delacora white sink. Polished chrome “T” Naples cabinet knobs accessorized this floating vanity perfectly.
The layout of the master bathroom stayed the same but all finishes where updated. Two new pocket doors were added from the master bedroom to the bathroom, where there were no doors before. The new Cambria Weybourne countertops were raised to 36” tall atop of the Waypoint maple espresso cabinetry. The homeowners chose an American Tile Stratos silver 12”x24” tile flooring. All soffits were removed over the vanities and the shower opening the room up. New recessed medicine cabinets were added to each vanity area. Kichler Tully chrome lighting was added above each vanity mirror. An overhead light from Restoration Hardware was added in the shower/toilet area.
The shower wall tile was Imperial Bianco 3”x6” polished subway tile which really updated the shower. The shower was updated with Delta ‘Vero’ chrome faucets and shower system. All other hardware was from the Delta Arzo polished chrome collection.
The homeowners love their new lighter, brighter home. It feels more like their custom home!
